White Fillings?

Any one know the best place to get white fillings, went to the dentist today and he said it would cost just under 拢400.
Answer:
The dentist would seem the most sensible place.
it doesnt matter where you go
they will all be expensive as its all cosmetic really!!
why not just stick with regular fillings, no one will be able to see them anyway!
That's really expensive. I recently had one done on one of my front teeth at my dentist and although it sot more than the metal ones, it was still under 拢100.
Where abouts in your mouth is the filling going to be? I had to have a replacement filling a while ago and as it was in one of my back teeth the dentist recommended the standard silver filling as no one would see it so why waste money as white fillings are expensive but 400 seems a little extreme are you sure this is for the basic white filling and not porcelain?
Flipping hell that's expensive, in the surgery where i work we charge between 拢55-65 per white filling, you should shop around and find some where cheaper that's not prepared to charge you the earth!
On the NHS you can have white fillings down on your front teeth, white fillings on the back teeth are not available on the NHS as the nhs class this as vanity!
White fillings are not always appropriate for posterior (back) teeth. White fillings are made up of a composite resin, or plastic, and will wear away a lot easier in the posterior teeth. If you are looking for a cheap dentist good luck, the only ones I know are the clinic type settings and you will get exactly what you pay for, cheap dental work that may need to be replaced a lot sooner. Ask your family, friends, work acquaintances who a good dentist is and go from there.
I can only presume you're getting a few. Otherwise you're being seriously ripped off.
At my dentist it costs from 拢68 and could rise to about 拢100 depending on the size of the filling.
Just call around the dental surgeries in your area and ask for prices.
no idea...

White fillings on the NHS?

How much they cost if they are already fillings in place
cause ive got a few grey 1's and i want white 1's
im still in full time education well leaving soon
but could u please help
cheers
Answer:
I just had a white filling on NHS which cost me 拢70, but as your in full time education you shouldnt have to pay for your treatment.
Im not sure about this one, i had grey ones that fell out so they were replaced with white ones, i suppose it depends on your dentist.
It isn't usual practise to place white fillings at the back of the mouth. They are made of glass composite and are suited to drier conditions at the front of the mouth. They are also not durable enough to cope with the crushing of food. For a healthy mouth the amalgam metal fillings do make long lasting fillings that do not leak as much as white ones. I would recommend leaving them unless you want to pay for new white fillings every 5 years.

White fillings on the NHS?

Hi peeps :D
im still in full time education and hav a few fillings except they ar all grey
i wanna no how much it costs to have white fillings ?
Answer:
It depends on where you live, but now a day they are the same price as the silver ones. It also depends on how much of the tooth is a filling. anywhere from $110.00 - $478.00, where I work. I hope this helps, if you have insurance they will pay their portion again if: #1 it is new ins. since you had the orig. filling, or #2 if it's over 4 years old.

While extracting an infected tooth in a pregnant woman, she faints, dentist should put her in which position ?

While extracting an infected tooth in a pregnant woman, she faints, dentist should put her in which position:a.Supine head up.
b.Supine head down.
c.Lateral on left side.
d.Horizontal on floor.
Answer:
C. It gets the baby off the vena cava for better circulation/oxygenation to the mother and the baby
ummm you should never extract an infected tooth
you should fist take a round of antibiotics
c. Lying on the left side maximizes blood flow. Lying on her back, the weight of her uterus can put pressure on the vena cava and restrict blood flow even further. However, I wouldnt reccomend extraction as a first option while pregnant as pain management is limited for fetal safety reasons. A course of wide spectrum antibiotics would be first choice.
c..turning on left side shifts the uterus, improving venous return to the heart.
C. roll the pregnant woman onto her side. This relieves the weight of the fetus from pressing on her vena cava. This sounds like an exam question. You should hit your books instead of procrastinating by surfing on the net! :-D

Which toothpaste?

which toothpaste can really show the difference between other brands, that can hold, reallly nice breath the most?
Answer:
I am a huge fan of Crest, and have been for a while. Crest has come out with a new line of home care products labeled Crest Pro Health. This toothpaste fights all kinds of great stuff.Crest Pro-Health Toothpaste is the first toothpaste accepted by the American Dental Association to address all these areas: Cavities, Gingivitis, Plaque, Tooth Sensitivity,Stains, it fights Tartar Buildup and Freshens Breath! There is also another line of products called BreathRx. But I warn you, for some reason, a few of my patients reported "sloughing" of the oral mucosa. It was almost like it burned their tissue. This may have just been a few isolated cases, but just be careful.
Arm %26 Hammer, doesn't just cover up bad breath, it kills the germs that cause them.

Which toothpaste is the best to whitening you teeth?

Answer:
Forever Living Products Toothpaste
none.
I heard most of them don't do much because it's on your teeth for too short of a time. Some ppl say brushing with a fav toothpaste can encourage you to brush longer and will make them white anyway. The ones I've used that have made my teeth slightly whiter are:
Rembrant Intense Stain Premium Whitening or Rembrant Plus Premium - slight difference but too pricey for me to keep up
Arm %26 Hammer Complete Care Whitening - includes a teeth shade paper for you to compare. Saw a slight difference within 2 months.
Colgate Total Regular or Whitening - Made my mouth feel super clean. And encouraged me to brush better and longer. Slightly whiter.
Good luck!
Arm n Hammer Whitening Toopaste
Despite all of the claims to the contrary no toothpaste can "whiten" your teeth. They can remove some surface stains or prevent them from occurring but that's it. Your teeth will never be any "whiter" than when they are cleaned at a dental office. Unfortunately, toothpaste ads are not regulated since they are cosmetic so the companies can pretty much say what they want to for marketing purposes. The only way to whiten your teeth is with Crest Whitestrips, etc [stronger ones available at the dentist] or with products applied in appliances from the dentist or applied in the dental office by staff or the DR.

Which tooth whitening product is...?

Fastest/Most efficient.Let's just say I need whiter teeth by next week.I've been contemplating over the Crest "White Strips" and the Aquafresh "Whitening Tray".Hmm. Which one do you recommend? Thanks in advance!P.S. I know I posted his in the "face" category already; I didn't realize. Sorry.
Answer:
I would go with Crest White Strips. I noticed a significant difference in about a week. Use along with a tooth whitening toothpaste and mouth wash and you will be good to go.
Crest White Strips worked great for me. removed coffee stains and really brightened them up.
i've been using crest white strips for only 6 days and you can already see a difference!! they're a little expensive, but they're really efficient and worth it!

Which Quality Street chocolate is best for breaking teeth?

Answer:
the toffee penny
That rock hard caramel one
The last purple one, if you beat me too it!
The toffee penny is known as the filling remover in our house...the toffee finger would probably best serve your purpose though, as they're bloody rock hard.
An infamous group of Mancunians.
the.. toffees?
The long thin toffee one that needs a hacksaw to break into it.

Which one u rather be in life ; a lawyer or a dentist/orthodontist??

Answer:
lawyer, being a dentist is gross.
LAWYER!!
It would be soooooooo fun!
I'm just not that good at arguing, thats the thing.
and i hav no intentions to attend law school.
Def a dentist or orth. No problems to take home with you. I am too sympathetic to be a lawyer
been lawyer, dentist cannot be worse
A pediatric dentist
Oh, a lawyer for sure. Who wants to work all bent over all the time?
Dentist/Orthodontist - Decent salary without the long hours, less pressure/back stabbing, and you can ease someone else's (tooth) pain.
I would rather be a dentist/orthodontist
they are liked more by people
Let's see..I can be a ambulance chasing land shark or deal with halatosis and gingivitis and spit all day long. If these are my only choices, give me the gun.
lawyer- because my dad is one, and I would drop fainting if I became a dentist or orthodontist.
lawer.i've had bad experiences with dentists.
Lawyer. That way, I can stand at least a good three feet, minimum, away from anyone who has strong halitosis while at work.As a dentist/orthodontist, that's not really an option, I'm thinking.
dentist. my dad used to be a lawyer and it didn't seem fun. and being an orthodontist u have to straighten ppls teeth and i mean what if u screwed up sum1s teeth when ur a dentist all u have to do is see if their clean and fill cavitys and do exrays
A dentist, because a lawyer often has to lie to win a case. There is even more incentive to lie if it is a contingency case
Dentist, of course. Four more years and I'll be a real one.
Hello,I have many friends that are lawyers and many that are dentists. I can honestly say that all the dentists are glad to be doing what they are...and the lawyers...well, not so happy. Many of them are having a tough time finding a job, and when they do, unless you work for a top law firm, you are working for peanuts. Dental school is a year longer, but is worth it more in the long run...and I think a lot more rewarding and fulfilling.
Since I am already a dentist thats the answer that I would stick with. Having a career in dentistry is very rewarding as you are helping to keep your patients teeth healthy and looking good for years to come.

Which job has a better pay: Respiratory Therapists or Dental Hygienists?

Also, how much does a Dental Dental Hygienists get pay with an associated degree? And which community college has an easy Dental Hygienists program to graduate?
Answer:
Respiratory therapists get paid more than dental hygienists.
I put your question into google.com and the salary levels can be found at http://www.payscale.com/research/us/job=...http://www.payscale.com/research/us/job=...The nature of the work and training for each one can be found at http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos084.htm...http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos097.htm...
Don't know what respiratory therapists make, but I am a dental hygienist and I work for a state that has one of the lowest pays for hygienists however my pay is not bad. I work salary per day which means if patients cancel or dont show I get paid some hygienists work commission see lots of patients and make more. However, working on salary I get more time to spend with patients and don't have to rush. $300 dollars a day is good for my state but I know many hygienists in other states make more. I work only 4 days a week 8-12/2-5. I can always work less, many hygienists work 2-3 days a week. However, many hygienists burn out quickly b/c the work can be very repetitive.
Oh, I have an associates degree. Bachelors and Associate pay will be the same. You just learn the same amount in less time w/ associate degree. The only reason to have a Bachelors right now in dental hygiene is if you plan to go on and get your masters to teach or do other types of work in dental hygiene for a company like Crest or etc.
None of the dental hygiene programs will be easy, if they are it will probably put you at a disadvantage for board exams.

Which is worse, brushing without flossing or flossing without brushing?

Answer:
Sorry but most of these folks are not thinking it through. Flossing is so much more important than brushing (cavity wise) -- Reason: Where do you get cavities? From sugar impregnated food remnants that get impacted between your teeth? Also, where does oral bad breath come from? Impacted food that has actually decayed between your teeth?Have you ever seen rotted food stuck to the middle surfaces of your teeth? Why not? Your tongue is trained to constantly explore your teeth and in fact the rest of your mouth (even the back part of your mouth, including the roof of your mouth. However your tongue cannot get between the teeth.( In the past we used tooth picks or regular sewing string to clean between our teeth.)PS: Eating a crisp apple or some other fresh vegetables like carrots and cauliflower will also help to brush your teeth.
Both are required for healthy teeth and gums. If you can only do one, I'd say brushing is the choice.
flossing without brushing.
Both are pretty gross,though.
FLOSSING WITHOUT BRUSHING!
flossing with out brushing
Neither - you should always brush and floss.
It better to brush and not floss. Just to let you know should only floss between the teeth you plan on keeping!
I think flossing without brushing is worse. It's gross to just floss and not brush, you'll still have morning breath. You'll kill more bacteria with brushing, than with flossing.
Flossing without Brushing!!Flossing only gets stuff out from between your teeth. It won't remove the plaque on your teeth, or even freshen your breath. Sometimes when you floss, what isn't on your floss just gets moved to another place in your mouth. So definately brush, even if you can't floss.
flossing without brushing would be the obvious...
flossing without brushing. DUH!
I'm pretty sure flossing without brushing. You should brush your teeth three or two times a day. You should floss everyday too, but I barely ever do.
Flossing without brushing...becuz what happens to the c**p you floss out? You need to brush it away dude!! X
I would floss. Food caught between teeth causes cavities. My dentist has a plaque in his office which says, "You don't have to floss all your teeth, just the ones you want to keep." But yuk! Why would anyone have to make the choice?
Both are NASTY. But the one nastier is flossing without brushing, for all the possible reasons I would have said are already up there.
BRUSHING WITHOUT FLOSSING! The tissue between our teeth is weaker than the tissue you brush b/c this tissue does not have the keratin that helps protect our skin and the tissue we brush. Thus, the tissue most people fail to floss and clean get sicker faster resulting in periodontal disease/boneloss for most people. The areas between our teeth are not cleaned by our tongue, saliva, water we drink, gum, etc. Everything we eat and drink actually can help keep our teeth clean except for inbetween them.
flossing without brushing
I never floss. No one I know flosses.

Which is the right toothpaste for you?

Answer:
i think you should go wiyh the one you love its taste better, because all toothpastes are the same in general.they all contain the same composition, and everything else you hear about toothpastes from being miracles to whitening to other super powers are just hipes, because the tooth structure from the outside don't have absorption ability to the minerals and vitamins present in the toothpaste.p.s. i am a dentist
Try the new Aquafresh Extreme Clean. It kinda makes tiny bubbles that really cleans well.
Colgate Total every time. If I use anything else I get problems with my gums!
I personally use Sensodyne because I have very sensitive teeth. I think find the one you prefer and stick with it. It's all a matter of preference. In my experience I don't think any one toothpaste is better than another, apart from if you have sensitive teeth.
Something with fluoride and has the ADA seal. I use Colgate Total.

Which is the right toothbrush for you?

Answer:
the dental association says soft bristle
A pink one, cos i'm a girlie!
I use Philips Sonicare. Absolutely brilliant. Highly recommended by dentists. My dentist actually told me that I used one before I could tell her.
I use Sonicare and Rotadent. They make my teeth white and no scraping at my last check-up. Soft bristles are a must.
I use the braun system ~ love it ~ If you use just a regular toothbrush it should be soft. you dont want to scrub too hard as you will eventually scrub the gums down near the root of the teeth and have another problem.

Answer:

Colegate is as good as any toothpaste, it is not worth spending a lot of money on them because they all contain more or less the same thing and as long as you are brushing correctly it shouldn't matter what you use.
Anything with fluoride, wether its expensive or not
Colgate with Flouride. :)It's ADA recommended. (look on the back of the tube)

Which is the best gum or mint to make your breath smell better?

Answer:
Any sugarless gum will do.The gums and mints sweetened with sugar will make your breath stink worse after you finish chewing them-- The germs that gives you bad breath grows best on sugar. You want to avoid those.Hope this helps.
I like the new Stride gum...it really does last FOREVER.
I use eclipse, or listerine pocket packets. They are strong with minty flavor.
Orbit or Trident
Big Red or Extra Te pink one
ur breath is what u eat. 4 example if u eat garlic ur breath gana stink 4 -3 days no matter what breath freshener u use. b coz the smell come from ur stomach. also u have 2 b sure that the far back of ur tongue r really clean.that where the bacteria stay. if u c things lock like pinball's in there u have 2 get red of it. after that use sugarless mouth freshener. good luck.
Acctually, believe it or not gum doesnt make your breath smell better, it makes it smell worse I swear it's a proven fact... mints are better

Which is much better for Dental Prostheses, having a fixed bridge or Partial denture?

I'm only 22 y/o and I recently had a tooth extraction. The dentist gave me two options, having a fixed bridge (aka. "jacket" in the Philippines) or a false teeth. I'm in dilemma in choosing between the two. Which one do you guys prefer and why? Any pros and cons? thanks a lot!
Answer:
Fixed bridge is better.
I've had a fixed bridge for more than ten years and other than cleaning beneath it, it's the same as a real tooth. I had a tooth that failed to develop and because of TMJ I was advised to have orthodontics and the bridge. A partial is removal, perhaps easily damaged or lost.
Go with the fixed bridge or see if you're a canidate for a dental implant.
When at all possible, keep the teeth! A good dentist will not extract a good tooth. In your case, I would recommend a second opinion. If that dentist concurs, I would opt for the fixed bridge. (I wish I had a dollar for every hour I have spent in the dentist chair!)
I would get the bridge done because a partical denture is not very functional. It is really just for looks. You can't really even eat with it. The best thing to do would be to have an implant done. You should talk to your dentist about doing the implant.

WHiCH iS BETTER??

Rapid Invisble Braces - www.rapid braces.comORInvisaglign - www.invisalign.com
Where could i get rapid braces at somewhere closet to saugus in Massachusetts? Which is quicker at straightening teeth??
Answer:
Which method you use will really depend on your particular malalignment and if your orthodontist and Invisalign consider you to be a candidate for their tray system. You may need more correction than Invisalign can do for you. I think both Invisalign and Rapid are basically the same type system for orthodontics. Both work equally well and the tray system is an excellent choice for ortho treatment with advantages, that to some, may far outweigh the use of the traditional method of ortho. It will really depend on the difficulty of your treatment. I've seen some patients do very well with this system, just as I have with others who use the traditional method. As for time involved, it really depends on your teeth, bone structure, how much movement is needed to correct your alignment, your bite, as well as straighten the teeth and your corporation with treatment. These are questions that your dentist or orthodontist can answer for you in great detail. First find out if you "can" use this method of orthodontics or if you will have to use the traditional method. All of these methods will give you the desired dental results; a perfect and beautiful smile. Hope I've been of some help and good luck with your ortho treatment.
Ive heard that invisalign is the best
arent they basicaly the same thing
I would just say invisalign, but they cost waaaaayyyy more... For me, I just got regular braces and they were just as fast...
my dad had invisiline last year and i coulldn't even tell they were there and now that they're off, his smile looks WAY better
hey just go to this website this should answer your questions to help you make your decision hopfully it helps if u need personal advice you can gladly email me http://www.canandaiguadentalhealth.com/s...
I don't know about that rapid thing but I do know that Invisalign is a pain in the @ss.. you have to take them in and out to eat, among other things.. and that can get tiresome.. FAST.
I'm not sure but hte invasalign are mroe popular. Although, you have to qualify for the invasalign thing. Not everyone can get tehm. Mostly adults and people with some kind of overbite or something.

Which is better/ do you perfer Crest or Colgate?

i'm not sure which 2 use since they both seem to do da same thing.
Answer:
I like Colgate.
Crest extra whitening!
I prefer Crest..
I think It gives off a cleaner feeling.
old fashioned Colgate cleans the mucous glands and rinses properly and doesn't dry out your mouth and throat like some others do
Ive tryed both before but colgate paste works best for this family. It seems like crest doesnt clean your teeth as good as colgate. gl to ya
your right they pretty much do the same, some dentists give samples and recommend crest while others do the same with colgate-so they are both good, i would say to use the one that you like the best if you have a preference-i used colgate but then started using crest when they came out with the cinnamon rush flavor because i like the way it taste.
Definately Colgate.
Sensodine
colgate
I use to use all Crest and loved it. Until Colgate Total came out and boasted that it has the ingredient that fights gum disease. Now I'm a Colgate lover.

Which is better, a removable dentures or fixed bridge and why?

which is easier to maintain? which will not cause bad breath?
Answer:
If thou are replacing only one tooth then you need to think seriously about and implant and a crown as a first choice. Next would be a Nesbitt Partial and finally a fixed bridge. If you are replacing more than one tooth I would recommend implants and crowns first, followed by a fixed bridge and then a partial. Here's my reasoning.1 tooth...implant %26 crown is most like the real thing; Nesbitt is easily removed to clean and doesn't require doing anything to more teeth; fixed bridge requires preparing the teeth on either side of the space which can lead to further problems. 2 or more teeth.again implants %26 crowns is most like the real thing; fixed bridge will be the next best thing to be almost like real teeth; the partial will be easy to clean but you will notice a definite lack of chewing ability not to mention an inconvenience in learning to talk and food debris getting under it.
Fixed bridge is nicer because you have your pallette (sp) and it feels like your real teeth. You don't have to soak them like dentures, and there is less chance of infections or irritations underneath.
Perhaps fixed bridge? It may cause you a fortune depending on how many tooth you need to restore. Having fixed bridge is the same as having you tooth back ie you do not need high maintenance as with dentures. But you should note that fixed bridge involves drilling your good tooth as well (for the suuport) so you might want to think about that. My brother has fixed bridges and his teeth looks gorgeous. Im 21 and I have a crown (almost similar with bridge) for my front tooth and most people dont notice it. I dont see any bad breath problems can arise from having a bridge. Just take good care of them as if they're ur original tooth
Hi there! My teeth were always AWFUL... I brushed and flossed...and still lost way too many! Now I have a partial plate and crowns. I HATE my partial... but it IS easy to clean. If I'd had the money, I would have gone for a fixed bridge and/or implants. The partial looks nice... but food gets under it and that really irritates me. Bad breath is a matter of oral hygiene PLUS a poor diet! Your tongue...believe it or not... is the source of a lot of bad breath. Good luck! Hugs, Gina C.

Which is Better Sonicare or Oral-B?

I hear good things about each type. They both cost similar.
Answer:
Sonicare for sure.
I would use Sonicare because Oral-B, which I've used, actually feels harsher on the gums whereas Sonicare feels like a gentle brushing. Depends what your gums are used to.
Have used both but like the Sonicare line better and they last longer.
I've use Oral B, Panasonic, Crest, Colgate and Sonicare. Sonicare wins hands down. Then Oral B next. With Sonicare, it claims to brush 31,000 brush strokes/minute. Claims to whiten teeth, shrink perio pockets and improve overall gum health. Also gives a money back guarantee. It also has an angled head so you can reach the back teeth. The brushes are super soft . It is curved and has longer ones on each end to reach between teeth. My teeth are super white. Even my dentist said I didn't need whitening. Gave me the best dental checkups hands down. My last cleaning took less than 5 mins and finally, no scraping. My hygienist said she's amazed at how well I've been taking care of them.Prior to Sonicare, I was using Oral B. The head is a little stiffer. But is a pull-off head instead of a screw-on w/the Sonicare. It doesn't have as much power as the Sonicare. Because of the round single head, you glide it from tooth to tooth. The Triumph does feel like the other lower cost toothbrushes in their line. Same head movement, similar head design, the only things are the bells and whistles.I think either one is great. But I recommend Sonicare. The brushes are much more gentle on my gums and teeth. Overall, I feel cleaner w/the Sonicare. Good luck!
Sonicare Elite is my top choice. There are many different model designations, but the "motors" are all pretty much the same. The kits are different because they pack different accessories. Some have two brush heads and some have four. Some have a travel bag and some have a wall-mount charger instead of a counter top charger. Just read the label carefully and buy what you need. Bear in mind that you will have to replace the brush heads about every six months, so see if it is cheaper to buy a few extra brush heads in one of the kits.Otherwise, buy a Sonicare, read and follow the directions. The directions are very clear and easy to understand.Sonicare is especially recommended for someone with braces, by the way.If you want to try a Sonicare without taking out a loan, I've got good news for you. I just bought one for THIRTY DOLLARS. It uses two "AA" batteries, so you are not paying for a charger, etc. I have no idea how long the batteries last (yet), but $70 would buy a boat load of batteries. It seems to be equally effective as the rechargeable version when you are using new batteries.

Which is better listerine or cypicol?

Answer:
cepacol has no alcohol in it and it doesn't burn to use it.
listerine has those issues, but it does indeed kill germs, I guess I'd recommend trying both and seeing which one you like most.they both do the same job.
listerine is better fights the germs.

Which is better for tooth and gum infection penicillin or amoxicillin?

Answer:
All of the dentists I know have prescribed Penicillin for this sort of issue. I took it once for this same reason.
Amoxicillin is generally prescribed for this.
I just had a tooth infection and the dentist prescibed amoxcillin

Which is better colgate tottal or crest pro-help?

Answer:
They both are fine if your teeth are not pron to being sensitive. They both can contribute to your teeth being sensitive to cold temperatures. You just need to try both and be your own judge. The taste most likely will be your deciding factor.
Any brand of tooth paste with Fluoride is good for your teeth, check the amount of fluoride rather than brand names.
X D
My own personal opinion, but I was a huge fan of Colgate Total until they came out with Crest Pro Health. Love their mouthwash, and toothpaste. I think dentists even prefer Pro Health. Good luck!
try 'sensodyne total care + whitening' , it also contains fluoride which as D2B said is good for your teeth

Which hurts worser, braces or spacers?

Answer:
For me, spacers felt like I had a popcorn cernel stuck in my tooth that I couldn't get out. I wanted to pick at them because they were irritating. Having my braces tightened was like having a dull throbing pain shooting up my teeth-all of them. It really sucked and the only thing I can compare it to these days (I am old) is a pretty bad sinus headache when all of your top teeth ache from the pressure.
Braces, spacers don't hurt
both but spacers hurt. they make it feel like your tooth is gonna fall out
braces, beginning about an hour after they're tightened and lasting bout 2 or 1 and a half days afterthat sucked, i could hardly eat bread w/o pain sometimes
Judas Priest!
worser is not a word, but to answer you ? i have no clue
first, check your grammar. Worser is not a word.
Second: spacers
spacers gives you fever at night i am telling you from experience but braces hurt every time you eat for the first week and then it will feel normal belive me
depends if your teeth are really messed up they hurt when you go get them tighten and spacers hurt the first time because you feel pressure like Diana
for me it was the spacers
Both hurt me when i wore them. Braces were worse because those sharp wires would work loose and tear up my cheek and gums. NOT a wonderful memory of my childhood...
S-P-A-C-E-R-Sbraces are a piece of cake!!
Space maintainers will feel strange of funny to you for a while and then you will get used to it. There is some pain involved in moving teeth with braces. And after every adjustment it can repeat.
braces
SPACERS! just not for long the worst pain lasts a couple of days.they will both hurt but don't expect to play with spacers i had mine for 2 years and i broke my wire that connects the caps 25 minutes ago!

Hot tea is certainly one.
BEETROOT , RIBENA , TEE , COFFEE , SWEETS , FOOD COLOURING . I DUNNO
Bernard Mathews Paint Filled Turkey Dinosaurs
Well lots of things, such as coffee, tea and even lemons. Things that are more acidic tend to stick and stain teeth.
cofee and red wine
coffee, tea, and other foods and drinks with strong colors to them, such as beets, blueberries, cherries etc.

The three main culprits of teeth staining are tea, coffee, and tobacco.
tea coffee and red wine are the main culprits

Which do you think stains your teeth more: smoking, coffee, or soda?

i don't do any of these things in excess but i want to know which i should cut out (besides for other health benefits) to help my teeth be brighter.
Answer:
They all leave yellow to brown stains. The smoking can lead to gingival recession (your gums pulling away from your teeth, essentially); the coffee anybody drinks is a big cup, or multiples cups, which don't help the staining or halitosis; and the soda is loaeded with sugar eating away at your enamel.Use a straw with any of them, it will help, not stop, staining. And rinse your mouth out after any of them. Personally, I rinse my mouth out in the morning, then drink my coffee and brush my teeth afterwards.
smoking. they dont only stain your teeth but they mess up your jaw too
i would say smoking. i used to smoke and had more trouble getting the stains off.
I would have to say that smoking stains your teeth more.
It is a toss up between smoking and coffee. I clean teeth for a living and they can both be very hard to remove at times.
I was told by a dental assistant that the phosphorous in soft drinks causes more damage to your teeth than sugar (even the diet drinks). I don't know if this is true or not. For your health cutting out smoking would be the best. It is a hard thing to quit, but so are coffee and soft drinks. Good luck in whatever you decide.

Which colors for braces?

Is it better to get lighter colors or darker colors for braces? Thanks in advance!
Answer:
Dark colors would not show up as much as lighter or brighter colors. It depends on your age and what you are involved in I think. I never had braces, but have cleaned many. Clear allows stains to show up more because the cement gets stained if you don't clean them well. Dark colors may let the plaque show up more though because it is whitish on a dark background..Just keep them very clean, use a rotary, electric brush and water pik. Avoid dark types of drinks if possible.
You can try hot pink and black, they look really cute together. Try to avoid white cause it can be easily stained. Also, I used orange and pink.
It doesn't matter!!!
Go for clear (and keep them clean). Then they won't clash with anything. 鈽?
orange orBLUE OR BOTH OR orange abd black or pink and brown or blue and hot pink
Get lighter colors for the summer. Try red, white, and blue for the Fouth of July!
I have braces, and I've found that if you like to eat dark foods, or drink pop or coffee, it is better to have darker colored braces because stuff doesn't show up as much on them.
whatever u like, although lighter colors will probably show stains more. im a really girly girl so for mine (im getting them in like 2 weeks, omg its exactly 2 weeks!) im getting pink and green so thats an idea or pink/purple, pink/blue, pink/orange, for 4th of july u can get red/white/blue, you could get red/blue, blue/green, blue/purple, there are lots of colors. u could just pick two of ur favorite colors and they will probably have them. or u could do just one color, or my orthodontist said that sometimes (it depends on the type of braces u get) that u can get them without the colors at all which i might do. whatever u pick, good luck
it depends on which color u match best...!!?!!!
well if this doesn't help so sorry : (
Lighter cause their closer to the teeth color.
You could get a lot of different color combinations. I think lighter colors show up better. Try this website which lets you try different colors.http://www.pbhs.com/ortho/braces/braces.
It depends a lot on how much maintenance you are willing to give to your braces. Colors such as clears, whites, or light blues, or pinks will probably take more maintenance than your basic blue, red, and green. They tend to stain easier so you would have to either be careful with what you eat or brush frequently. Another color to be weary of is yellow, still prone to staining it also makes your teeth appear yellower or dirtier. However if maintenance is not a problem to you and you are willing to put in extra effort then lighter is better for you. If you keep your braces bands clean they will seem less visible, unlike darker colors or brighter ones that will most likely stick out more along side your teeth color, white. It all depends on your personal reference.

Which brand of toothpaste is good or the best?

Answer:
Most of the major brands are equivalent these days. Go for the one that tastes the best to you so that you'll be sure to use it.
As long as u brush and floss everyday, any toothpaste will do. As long as u like the flavor
crest, aim, or colgate.
The toothpaste itself doesn't actually do much other than provide an abrasive material for scrubbing teeth. However, you should read the ingredients and avoid sodium lauryl sulphate/sodium laureth sulphate (SLS).
I like Colgate Total. I think as long as it has the the ADA seal it's good.
Crest Pro-health.
I've used it for a while now, and it tastes refreshing.
it fights against cavities, gingivitis, plaque, sensitivity, tartar, whitening and it freshens breath.
Other toothpastes fight against a few or individual things I listed.
This has them all in one.
It's about 3-4 dollars. I'd rather pay that then pay for new teeth.
I hope I helped.
The only REAL good brand of toothpaste is the special kind that some dentists have.
I recommend anything from Crest brand...my teeth are so much healthier since i switched to Crest.
Dont forget to floss and rinse with mouthwash.
oxy products they're great

Which according to you is the best toothpaste in india?

Where is the best most economical place to get dental work done?

In U.S?
In Canada?
IN World
Answer:
Dental schools that offer to see patients, is usually the most cost effictive place to have dental work done. They are students, but always supervised by instructors, and dentist.
toll free denture 1 800
Juarez, Mexico
Hi,I recently had Implants and crowns in Budapets Hungary. The price for the whole package was fantastic and the facilities were world class. There are many dental clinics over in Budapest I used Kreativ Dental, you can see the kind of prices I paid here http://www.kreativdental.co.uk
I'm in Ca and heard a lot of ppl go to Mexico to do their dental work for cheap. But best to find a reputable one. Dental school also. The work is exceptional and price is low. Had a few fillings there that lasted for years. Even my old dentist was amazed at how long it's lasted. =)
The answer is the same for anything. Wherever people work the cheapest with the lowest overhead. Of course you have to figure in the cost of getting there and maybe staying for several appointments. And finding competence could be a problem. You already know the cheap places in the world.

Where is Colgate toothpaste made?

I saw on the news that toothpaste from china was contaminated with ant-freeze. Or maybe I could get the toothpaste brands made in china.
Answer:
There is a recall on certain toothpastes made in China which have diethylene glycol (DEG) as an ingredient. This is similar to a component of antifreeze and can cause various problems.

"Diethylene glycol (DEG) is a glycol compound possessing toxicity similar to ethylene glycol. It is a Central Nervous System depressant and potent kidney and liver toxin when ingested. It is commonly used in industry as a solvent, a thickening agent, a humectant, and as a component in antifreeze and gas conditioning formulations.

"DEG has been improperly used as a low-cost substitute for glycerin and propylene glycol in pharmaceutical preparations resulting in various lethal poisoning incidents in humans worldwide."To me, the biggest problem is that DEG is also known by over 30 other names.

So far the list of recalled product includes:

Exported by Gold Credit International:
Cooldent Fluoride
Cooldent Spearmint
Cooldent ICE
Dr. Cool Toothpaste
Everfresh Toothpaste
Superdent Toothpaste
Clean Rite Toothpaste
Oralmax Extreme Action Toothpaste
Oral Bright Fresh Spearmint Flavor
Bright Max Peppermint Flavor

Exported by Suzhou City Jinmao Daily Chemicals Co:
ShiR Fresh Mint Fluoride Paste

This list will be updated as needed and it can be found on the FDA website at: http://www.fda.gov/ora/fiars/ora_import_...
That's classified information. Pay me some C-Notes and maybe I'll divulge the information You're looking for.

Where is a good place in sf to get ur teeth whitened thats lasts long?

thats under 800$
Answer:
I'm originally from Sf. The one I went to was downtown in the dental building. I forget the street. I think it's Post street. Turn right after downtown tunnel. It's the brown brick dental building. I use to get all my dental work from several of the dentists there. Slightly pricier but great environment. The popular ones are Zoom and Brite Smile or the trays. You can go to their site and look up dentists in your area. Then give them a call to compare prices. The trays worked better for me. Because after you get the whitening, if you stain them, you'll have to do it again. With the trays, I just buy the gel filled syringes, squeeze them into the trays and convenient to do at home. They worked great, until my sis' dog chewed them up, lol. Now I just go with the strips. Good luck!

Where is a cheep dental office in houston or a cheep dental insurance.?

i have 13 cavaities and i rotten tooth. im living off of orajel and im only 18. i need to get them fixed befor i look horable. pleese help
Answer:
In your situation, I recommend becoming a patient at the dental school at the University of Texas Health Center in Houston. The UT Houston dental school charges fees about half that of a regular dentist, and the quality of care provided by the dental students there (who are of course supervised) are quite good. You do have to give up a bit of time though-- 3 hours in the chair is typical.Hope this helps.
Sorry to hear that, try googling for free dental clinics in your area or also try contacting your city local office they sometimes have programs they can enroll you in to get assistance. Good Luck!

Where in the mouth do wisdom teeth come in?

A few years ago i had the back tooth on the top left taken out and a tooth grew up in its place only it was a little bit further back than the original tooth that was taken out.maybe the length of half a tooth back.was this a wisdom tooth??do they come up under existing teeth or do they start to come up too far back in the jaw that causes the pain and problems??thank you
Answer:
The wisdom teeth are the last to come in, at the very last space that is left in the very back of your jaw. What is likely to have happened is that your wisdom tooth has moved somewhat into the empty space where your tooth was extracted. This is normal, in the case of the wisdom tooth: I do not think anything needs to be done, but do consult your Dentist next time you visit, and see what he/she will advise. The wisdom tooth will not come up under another tooth, and it will only move if there is an empty space next to it.
Now I'm not dentist, but I'm sure they are the teeth that come in alllll the way in the back of your mouth...like...in the last possible spot a tooth could possibly grow. My dentist said I have a big mouth, so I didn't need to have them taken out. haha.
They come way back in the gum and mine were very painful even after they were completly through I had them pulled out. They have very short roots and come out easily.
At the end, but they cause more damage than good, have them removed once they are fully grown.
in the back of the mouth...i think %26lt;3
Wisdom teeth are otherwise known as third molars, as they are "supposed" to come in behind your existing molars. Many times the wisdom teeth aren't correctly positioned and will cause problems. If the second molar was removed, the third molar may move forward somewhat. I think that many of us just don't remember how painful a new tooth coming in truly is.
Hi!
i need to know how old you were when that top tooth you mentioned was taken out..and how old you are now...youre referring to wisdom tooth as the third molar which grows in areaafter the second molar...
Third molar or wisdom tooths normal eruption is 18-23yrs.. so if your tooth be it second or first molar was taken out---before your were 18--you really would have a new tooth growing out when you reach the age i mentioned above---as long as your wisdom tooth is not impacted or cannot grow out or erupt for some reasons like its horizontally positioned or another tooth is in the way of its path of eruption.. etc
yes, it causes pain and sometimes slight fever ..
wisdom are the last 4 top 2 bottom 2

Hi there! I don't know about Minnesota..but you can try calling the Health Dept., and believe it or not they can tell you. Dental work can really get expensive.also try contacting a university in your area, one of course that has Medical students and general dentistry. Where do you get a shot at when you get fillings?

Like,do you get a shot in you arm or gums?
Answer:
In your gums. They rub something to numb the area before they stick you.
gums
In your gums.
ur gums
it goes in the gums right by the tooth they are working it numbe that spot up
in ur gum
gums, where it will do the most good.
the novicane shot is in your gums. the area of your gums depends on where the cavity is but it can be just about anywhere in your mouth. if your dentist is good, he'll use a topical gel first. that numbs the area temporarily so that you can't even feel the shot.
The shot of novacaine will be injected through your gums, near the affected tooth. The novacaine is injected so that the corresponding facial nerve root is affected, so not only will your tooth and gums be numb, so will your lips/cheek/tongue areas that are innervated by that same nerve root.
Of course it goes in the gum but it doesn't really hurt. It has a little quick sting. It's not as bad as it seems. Some dentist have another way of doing it; that's even better. They get better at their work for the comfort of their patients.
Yup im a dental assistant and they are right, Its your gums
gums geek
In my experience, it has always been a shot in the gums.
Several factors influence the performance, durability, longevity and cost of dental restorations. These factors include: the patient's oral and general health, the components used in the filling material; where and how the filling is placed; the chewing load that the tooth will have to bear; and the length and number of visits needed to prepare and adjust the restored tooth.
There are two types of dental restorations: direct and indirect.
Direct restorations are fillings placed immediately into a prepared cavity in a single visit. They include dental amalgam, glass ionomers, resin ionomers and some resin composite fillings. The dentist prepares the tooth, places the filling and adjusts it during one appointment.
Indirect restorations generally require two or more visits. They include inlays, onlays, veneers, crowns and bridges fabricated with gold, base metal alloys, ceramics or composites. During the first visit, the dentist prepares the tooth and makes an impression of the area to be restored. The impression is sent to a dental laboratory, which creates the dental restoration. At the next appointment, the dentist cements the restoration into the prepared cavity and adjusts it as needed. You may wish to read a good article called "Fillings Get Smaller鈥nd Smaller" you can find it at:

Where can you work for a job that pays minimum wage at the age of 11?

please give me an answer I am begging you!
Answer:
The only thing I can think of would be babysitting, but you are a wee bit young even for that. Try mowing yards for neighbors, or doing Chores for Mom and dad.
Your not legally allowed to work
you will only get student wages =sorry
Babysitting.
help your neighbors out with chores
well hun its not likely you will get a job out there in the real world not saying you cant work but age does affect the situation, if yo have any family that has a biznis then yuo might get a job through them but other wise i dont think you will have any luck hun sorry
You cannot...but I made more money babysitting then I did for my first job. However, any parent that would have an 11 year old babysit may be crazy. I was 12 and I babysat with a friend. Ask neighbors if you can do chores for them but working a real job is really not legal for you.
nowhere. stay in scool and get a real job. the more education you have the less manual labor you have to do.
YOU MAY BE ABLE TO GET A PAPER ROUTE. BUT IF NOT TRY DOING LITTLE JOBS FOR YOUR NEIGHBORS. LIKE CLEANING THEIR YARDS WALKING THEIR DOG. EVEN BABYSITTING. GOOD LUCK :)
You are not legally old enough to work. There are child labor laws, you know.Try tutoring, mowing lawns or babysitting.

Where can i.?

my mum went to Austrialia and bought listerine toothpaste, aparently it is soooooo good she wants to buy more but cannot find anyone that sells it, i have been on the web and its only imported and i have emailed the actual listerine website but they ony respond within 72hrs and even then i made up a zipcode cause I could not pick the UK on the info boxes as it wasn there... can you help?
Answer:
A lot of things are territorial, as an example my sister lives in Australia, and they have a whole load of Cadbury chocolates we'll never see. As Cadbury is an English company, its nuts, but hey.You may just have to live without it, or at least ask Listerine to bring it over here. They will only do so if the market is ripe for it. The British market tends not to go for things that are in any way weird or wacky though, hence we only have the boring chocolates.
Looks like we only get the mouthwash. She could try that as you can find it in supermarkets like ASDA.

Where can I get free dental implants?

Answer:
It all depends on where you live. Most clinics do not do dental implants. You might be able to have them done if you go to a dental school where you will have students do the work under the supervision of a professor. The drawback is that it often takes a long time to get the work completed. But it is something to look into.
No where, dental implants are expensive, I think $1,500 each, do judge the price, judge the dentist
Free probably no where, but you might be able to find a dental school/oral surgery school that needs patients for dental implants so you could get them cheaper.
Sorry, implants are not considered a medical necessity. There are a lot of people with missing teeth. (front teeth and back teeth) They either leave it alone, or (if they can't afford implants) they get a bridge. Even those are expensive. Depending on what needs to be done with the bridge they can be around $500-900. Now, I have heard about dentists/oral surgeons who are all over the US and they are fixing teeth for free IF you were abuse by your spouse. One woman's husband had kicked her in the mouth and knocked most of her teeth out. She got implants, veneers, etc. for free.

Where can i get a spiral dental brush for my braces?

does anyone know where i can get a spiral dental brush that is not online, mine broke and my orthodontist will charge me for another and his are cheap, i want a good one that can last me. anyone know if i can get it at my local walmart or something? thanks
Answer:

Where can I find State of Iowa list of oral surgeons who have had malpractice law suits ?

Answer:
Recent cases being processed by the Iowa Board of Dental Examiners can be found here: http://www.state.ia.us/dentalboard/publi...You can also send inquiries about individual practitioners to the board, but there will be a fee involved. As Dr. Albert says, ongoing lawsuits would be subject to confidentiality rules, and most of the time settlements are also confidential. Cases that went to trial and decided by a verdict would be a matter of public record though, unless a judge decides to seal the records for some reason.Hope this helps.
HELLO,
WHILE THERE IS NO SUCH LIST IN PARTICULAR, YOU MAY FIND OUT IF ANY DENTISTS HAVE BEEN DISCIPLINED BY CONTACTING THE DEPARTMENT OF PROFESSIONAL REGULATION. LAWSUITS ARE A VERY PRIVATE ISSUE AND NOT SUBJECT TO PUBLIC SCRUTINY.
If you contact the Iowa Dental Board, they may be able to help.

Where can I find pictures of dry socket?

My husband had a tooth pulled about a week ago and he thinks he may have dry socket but we want to know what to look for..
Answer:
Enjoy.
http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/im...
there really isn't anything to look for. all it means is that the clot was dislodged. if it hurts like hell then chances are it is a dry socket.
Not many pictures b/c they all look different. Basically, it hurts much worse than it ever did before. Extremely painful call the dentist they should be able to prescribe an antibiotic for him b/c that is what he needs. Also, he will need an appointment they usually pack the hole w/ absorbable material soaked in clove oil. You can also buy clove oil at the health food store and put some drops in the hole but it will burn like hell. For some reason sometimes the clot fails to form. The clot is what heals/starts the healing process. No clot, no healing so infection sets in and thus the extreme pain.
There isn't anything to look for. Dry socket occurs when the blood clot that fills the empty space (where the tooth once was in the bone) becomes dislodged and healing occurs only at the surface. That's to say, the gum heals but not the bone under it. The tooth socket is left empty. That's why if you were to look into his mouth, it would appear fairly normal. Dry socket is a very painful situation. I can be treated with cloves but my best recommendation would be to go back to see the dentist who originally pulled the tooth. He/she will treat the site with a clove pack and healing will occur quickly and your husband will be pain free once again. The sooner this is addressed the sooner your husband will feel better. Good luck!
A dry socket is when the blood clot is no longer in the hole where the tooth was and it is very painful. So it would be sunk in kinda.
He'll be in so much pain from a dry socket...He won't care what it looks like..Have him see his dentist and they can put a eugenol packing in the socket, and with some pain killers...he'll feel much better.Make sure he does not drink from a straw or do any sort of spitting..and NO smoking

Where can I find Free or low0cost insurance for Actors?

I've been told that I can get free insurance for actors or something low-cost. I'm barely making ends meet and I'm not sure where to go and I need health insurance right away very badly. I've been told the only way that's going to happen is if I'm a minority (which I'm not), so is this true or am I chasing my tail around?
Answer:
Here is the link for the Actors guild a visitor was right they do provide discounts and assistance even with housing. But just in case the membership fee or discount is not adequate or meet your budget I have also added a link for low cost discount dental plans which provide savings of up to 60% off routine dental care and dental procedures for everyone. Also added a link for tips to cut dental costs. And an extra link for free prescription drug discount card just in case you ever need it. Just Print and Save!Good Luck!!
Is there not a Screen Actors Guild for you to join? Wouldn't they have something affordable in a group rate? I was hoping this to be true because my daughter will soon be finishing her schooling from an acting academy in NY and will need to look into such things for herself.

Where can I find a dentist for braces thats pay monthly for them?

Answer:
Most will let you. Te majority of the population don't have $3,000-4,000 laying around in their pocket, although you will need a down payment. My brother has braces, and he has an appointment every month, his payment of $100 is due at his appointment. With the help of our insurance, it's almost paid off.
Well first look up an orthodontist in your surrounding area, and then they'll answer all those questions for you. I want to do the same thing for myself. I haven't done it yet, but when I made the appointment the receptionist gave me all the answers I needed. Sometimes they may send some sort of packet letting you know about financing and things of that nature. If you find out let me know. Good luck sweetie!
They should let you pay monthly after an initial down payment. Just get out your phone book and start calling them.
Call an ORTHODONTIST not a dentist. Regular dentists do not put braces on people. Call any orthodontist and ask if they can arrange a monthly payment schedule with you instead of paying it all at once. Many orthodontists will want to work with you.
Hey. Most dentist's or orthodontist will work something out. Have you thought about getting a discounted dental health plan for $11.95 a month per person. Then see if the dentist will work some sort of payment with the rest that isnt covered. Check into it and then go to my profiel and check out my discounted dental health plan. to see if it is covered in your area. If you have any questions please write and I will get back with you. Have agreat day.
CHECK OUT WWW.CARECREDIT.COM YOU WILL BE GLAD THAT YOU DID! I WAS.

Where can i dispose of dirty needles? i work for a dental supply company and i was asked to find out.?

And no i dont do drugs lol.
Answer:
Why are you in charge of that? The office should know that. Contact the local health department and ask them where a dental supply company can dispose of used needles. Most likely the company must pay for a service. Or contact the board of dentistry in your state and ask them.
Next time you order supplies, get a "Sharps Box" aka Red Box
My ex-boyfriend was a tattoo artist and he used to put the dirty needles into this special plastic container--i think it was orange, that has the hazardous sign on it. Then you probably give it to a specific collector. Sorry I'm being vague!
Most places I've seen with medical waste use "hazardous waste" containers to eliminate blood, needles, etc. They are taken away by specialists . Maybe call a hospital and ask them the name of the professional they use.
I'd call a local hospital and ask for the maintenance department. I'm sure they'd be willing to tell you where they dispose of their medical waste.
You need a sharps container and they are picked up by companies specializing in biohardous waste disposal.BTW.. If the dental supply company is asking YOU, they are clueless and I would go work somewhere else.
You don't do anything with the needles inside. they are meant to stay there and the entire container is diposed of. The dental office you work at should have informed you of where to dispose of the containers.
We used to put them in a red bag once the container was full, then you lock it. and dispose of it.
needles should be placed in a "sharps" box for disposal. The disposal is done by a medical waste collection company. What company will depend on just whre you are located. I believe the sharps box is either disposable itself , or there is an inner container that is tossed.
You can take the full (only up to the maximum fill line) sharps container to your local hospital, or call them and ask which disposal company they use for destroying their used sharps.

Where can i buy orthodontic elastics?

I know I can get them from my orthodontist, but that's way out of my way. And i ran out of them and I need more! Where do they sell them?
Answer:
You NEED to get them from your orthodontist. Every doctor uses different strengths during each stage of treatment. If you call the office they might mail you some!
You could try a drug store or a place like Wal Mart.Good luck
Any pharmacy should have them.
Try a pharmacy, or a local dentist? Alternately, you could ring your orthodontist and ask the receptionist there where you could find them.. explain your predicament! Say it's an emergency!

Where and how much are teeth whitning products?

My teeth are yellow-ish white. How can I get that pretty white smile?where can I get stuff to brighten my smile/
Answer:
I use Crest White strips. Been using it for over 3 years. I'm a former smoker and a coffee addict and it works every time. I use the Classic or Renewal. It may cause sensitivity but goes away after you stop using the system. Some dentists offer the Crest Supreme or another whitening system but can be pricey. Crest cost me under $30. Anotehr way is the Sonicare toothbrush. It got my teeth super white, even my hygenist said I didn't need a whitening and no plaque/tartar. But you have to be super gentle using it or it can damage your gums and teeth. Good luck!
The dentist is always the best choice for results. however, they arent the cheapest or pain free. lol. just about any grocery store or possibly a GNC or comparable nutrition store may carry it also.
I used Crest Whitestrips. They cost 29.00 at Wal-Mart. They really made a difference. They have a lower strip and an upper strip. Here's a tip---I talk with my top teeth more so I didn't use all the lower strips--just till my lower teeth got to the shade I wanted. Then I used the lower strips on my top teeth!! It really works!
you can buy crest white strips if you want, they cost around 30$, but they aren't the most effective.
The whitening products the dentist has is the best, they change the shade of your teeth a lot faster and for longer. See, the stuff they sell in the store has about 3% whitening ingrediants, the stuff the dentist has is between 15-30%. So i recommend going to the dentist, they have gels that you apply. The good stuff at the dentist costs between 300$ and 1000$.

Where in AZ can my uncle find a pro bono dentist?

Severe surgery needed on his entire mouth. He is willing to do whatever he has to. He is a recovering drug addict. He is going on 2 years and it is so amazing to see him sober. He needs help with paying for dental help.
Answer:
There are two dental schools in the state of Arizona where you can get good-quality dental care for about half what a private dentist charges:The Midwestern University College of Dentistry at Glendale, and..The Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health at Mesa.Hopefully one of these is close to you.
Look up your local dental schools a student can work on him for a huge discount GOOD LUCK
If he is low income have him check with local government sponsored health services.as well as a dental school.
Contact a university with a dental program.
am sure some deal can be worked out with somebody.
also contact the arizonal dental association ore something similar am sure they could help as well

When youre wisdom teeth are getting taken out does it hurt?

Answer:
Complications from wisdom tooth removal are rare. They include infection, temporary sinus complications, injury to other teeth, numbness (usually temporary), temporary joint problems in the jaw, and in very rare cases, jaw fracture. If the jaw seems weak after surgery, your doctor may advise avoiding hard foods until the healing is complete. The outcome of surgery to remove wisdom teeth is often visible: chipmunk cheeks. The good news is the symptoms don't last long, and dentists have many ways to minimize swelling or pain. The symptoms rarely last more than 48 to 72 hours.
To allow the area to heal, you should eat only soft foods, soups, and liquids for at least the first two days following surgery. Complications are rare, but you should report any of the following symptoms of infection to your oral surgeon immediately:
鈥?Fever of more than 100 degrees
鈥?Abnormal swelling
鈥?Pain or a bad or salty taste in your mouth, whether or not there's discharge from the site
In some cases, blood doesn't properly form a clot in the tooth's empty socket, leading to a local infection known as "dry socket" about 48 hours after surgery. Although painful, the condition is easily treated by placing a medicated dressing on the extraction site.
Of course, some bleeding and swelling around the empty socket is normal. Applying pressure to your gums will usually stop bleeding, and ice helps ease swelling. Dentists advise patients to rinse with warm water and to use ice or a cold pack around the affected area of the jaw to reduce swelling. Patients who don't place ice in their mouths or ice packs on their jaw after the procedure are usually the ones in the worst shape when they come to see him for follow-up appointments a few days after surgery. at the time you will be on drugs so you wont feel that . but once the job is done and the drugs are gone yes it said to be one of the most painfull things a person is likely to feel.
it depends on the person really
DURING THE PROCEDURE...YOU SHOULDNT THE SHOULD GIVE YOU SOME KIND OF ANESTHETIC...I WAS OUT FOR ROUGHLY 20 MINS...WHEN I CAME TO...THERE WASNT ANY PAIN YET BECUZ OF BEING ON THE ANESTHETIC STILL...AFTER ANOTHER 20MINS..THE ANESTHETIC WORE OFF AND THEN IS WHEN I FELT THE PAIN...LUCKILY WE WERE ABOUT 5 MINS AWAY FROM THE DRUGSTORE TO GET ME MY PAIN PILLS..WHICH HELP TREMENDOUSLY!!
I was put under anethesia, but it was uncomfortable when I woke up. Just make sure not to get a "dry socket." This is when the blood clot comes out of the hole where the tooth was removed, usually by sucking with a straw, smoking, etc. That hurts and you should see your dentist/surgeon right away.
If you are having them cut out, you will be asleep. You may have some swelling for a few days. Good luck!
It's best to get all four out at once. You'll probably be out for the surgery. If not, you won't hurt during the surgery. You'll just be sore for about a week, but they give you pain pills. Don't worry!!

When your mouth is swollen with a toothache what does that mean?

I am taking penicillin for a abscessed tooth but now my whole side of my mouth is swelled up what is happening
Answer:
it's probably an infection. the best thing to do is to go to a dentist to know if the swelling is caused by a tooth, or by some other reason.
Depending upon where the abscess is, it's probably still that causing all the swelling. My girlfriend had an abscess that got into the bone. The whole side of her mouth swelled up like she had mumps. If it is in the bone, it can take months to clear up the abscess because it's very hard for antibiotics to actually get into the bone to kill off the bacteria causing the infection.
Sometimes it will get worse before it gets better. A warm compress will create circulation. Rinse with warm salt water to help draw out the infection as well.
abscesses with infection can actually get worse, feel worse and look worse the first few days before antibiotic takes control of the situation. Stay on the penicillin, also talk to your Dentist to make sure something more serious isn't going on he might want to change your medication. To Help draw infection and swelling out you can use antiseptic mouthwash, a solution of 1 part peroxide/1part water or warm salt water (don't swallow the any of these type rinses). I had an abscessed molar and my whole side of face swelled and the infection started entering the rest of my body. Doctor put me on high doses of antibiotic, it took about 3 days for swelling to go down and for me to start feeling better. please make sure you have tooth extracted after infection and medication is gone, because the tooth will eventually flare back up again.
In holistic medicine, we learn that when our teeth %26 gums get infected then are warning signs of deeper problems within the body. As a beliver in holistic medicine, I personally would back off on the penicillen, because strong antibiotics are extremely harmful to our bodies natural immune system. If you have a water pick, (if you don't, then get one), you can take sea salt, which will break down with out clogging your water pick, and vinegar, mix with water(mix it fairly strong), and user it to clean your teeth %26 gums. You will bleed the first few times that you use it. However, you will notice your gums getting stronger on the first day. Water pick, sea salt, vinegar, mix at least 50% to 50% water, then use it to clean your teeth %26 gums. This will wash out any infection that is harming your teeth %26 gums, and protect it from getting reinfected again. If it does, simply repeat the process. This will be very strong for most people, but if your tired of suffering, just do it. Your all big boys %26 girls %26 you can handle it! The only thing left to do, is get better.
you should see decreaed swelling and a noticeable reduction in pain in 2 days after the start of an antibiotic. chances are, the bacteria is resistant to the antibiotic your on, and you need something different. contact your doctor asap.
You should definitely ask your dentist. More than likely the penicillin is not strong enough to combat the infection in your tooth and you are going to need a stronger antibiotic. These site also contain a LOT of helpful information:

When you use baking soda for your teeth what will happen?

will it cause anything bad or will it help whiten ur teeth?
Answer:
Baking soda is good for your teeth. It makes them feel cleaner and may whiten a little but not as much as whitening strips.
If you do use it dont use it everyday
Baking soda is a mild abrasive that doesn't harm your teeth. It makes them whiter by brushing away stains. You can safely use it every day. There are even tooth pastes available that contain baking soda.
Nothing bad, but it won't whiten.Have you ever put baking soda in vinegar? It causes quite a chemical reaction. The human mouth is mildly acidic (like vinegar) and contains millions (probably billions) of bacteria that like an acid environment. When you put any base, like soda, in there, it neutralizes the acid and makes your mouth a much more hostile place for bacteria. Many dentists advise brushing with a salt and soda combination. Mine told me to put extra soda on regular toothpaste. It helps kill bacteria and thereby prevents them from decaying your teeth. That's the real point. One of your other respondents said to not do it everyday. He's wrong. Do it two or three times every day. They won't be whiter, but they will be decay-free.

When you recently got a tongue ring do you have to use mouth wash when you drink things?

tongue rings
Answer:
While the area is still healing, you should rinse with mouthwash ea. time you eat or drink. ( I rec Listerine)Because the mouth contains a high bacterial count, infections will form easily if not maintained. Yes, it will burn, but its all a part of the decision to get a piercing. Good Luck.
if it has sugar yes. And if it is like orange juice with pulp yes..
yes. try and stick to water. it will help keep it clean and heal faster.

When you have wisdom or molars pulled, what are the white thin looking dashes that you look at in your mouth?

where the teeth used to be? Am I looking at stitches or bone...using a mirror and a flashlight?
Answer:
Probably stitches.
Sounds like stitches. If it's bothering you, you dentist can trim them for you. Or they come off on their own. Try not to touch it too much with your tongue. =)

When you get your wisdom teeth pulled at the dentist does it hurt? What do they give you to not feel it?

Answer:
well i heard that it hurts a lot and they dont do anything. it goes away after a while.
Some people get IV sedation when its done (knocked out), others get shots of novacaine, like I did.It didn't hurt while it was being done, but it was a bit uncomfortable after the novacaine wore off. I took some painkillers and pretty much slept for the next couple of days.
When I had mine done, all 4 at once, I remember going in and then the doc gives you a shot. Depending on the type of anesthetic you get you probably won't feel it. I woke up in my bed at home. The only part that sucks is after. It took about 4 days until I was able to eat normally. Good luck.
Usually, they surgically remove wisdom teeth, with local or general anesthesia (staying awake with pain killers, or being put to sleep). I had mine removed when I was about 18. I stayed awake through the procedure. The worst part was getting multiple shots of pain killer, but once the pain killer set in, I couldn't feel anything but pressure. It only took about 15 minutes and I was on my way home. It took me a few days to feel back to normal again, and I had to be careful to keep the areas clean so I didn't get an infeciton.
I had mine out %26 was given "happy gas" which made me go off in space. Warning:::: Don't drink from a straw whatever you do (they'll advise you on this) or you'll get dry socket %26 that's the worst pain I had ever felt (I've given birth since %26 now the wisdom teeth is the 2nd worst).
They give you novacaine, a nerve numbing liquid that is injected into the gums or back of the mouth. The inital needle may hurt, but as you get your teeth pulled, you shouldn't feel very much but your mouth being worked on. I know though after the novacaine wears off, you mouth will ache and be swollen. Rest and your body will heal and do the rest.
Hey dip face...have a carrot dip face!!
I had all 4 of mine pulled when I was 18 years old. I am now 38. They put me to sleep for mine. I do remember having some pain once the pain meds wore off. The part I hated was not being able to eat solids food for a few days. If they are doing only 1 or 2 teeth they may not put you to sleep. I think it really depends on the dentist.
I had all 4 of mine taken out at the same time. None were impacted. I was awake, but I did get lots of novicane shots to numb everything up. I was pretty suprized that after all the horror stories I heard, it was not nearly as bad as I thought. My dentist was great. He gave me a valium to take the night before, so I came in pretty relaxed, and I did get a little (laughing gas) just prior to all those novicane shots. But I was awake for the whole thing. You do feel pressure and kinda tugging, but I felt NO PAIN during. The only thing that that was a bit disturbing was every now and again I would hear a little pop or crack...I remember thinking ewwwww..and I'm glad I didnt feel that. He did perscribe for me like 10 pain pills to take if I needed. I did take one just as I was feeling the novicane wearing off so that I would be covered. I took it more out of fear that It would really hurt. However, the rest of the time I just took plain tylonal if it got to aching. I did end up with dry socket in my lower jaw. So it was more bothersome to go to the dentist every other day to get that looked at and "patched", but the tylonal handled any discomfort from that. I had the 4 wisdom teeth removed in the afternoon and I was back to work the next day ( my jaw was a bit swollen) but I was able to function at my job just fine. Hope this helps! Good Luck
I took mines out a month ago while sleeping. It was general anesthesia (iv). I didn't feel a thing and don't remember much. It's funny because I went in w/them and when I woke up they were gone. Felt like a long sleep and a little loopy when I woke up. They hurt a little bit for about a week and ate only soft foods but the pain meds are great. Took about a week and a half and I was able to eat normally and no more pain. Good luck!

When you get your wisdom teeth cut out, do you really have to wait about 5 days to brush your teeth?

And also how long do you have to wait to be able to eat or drink anything? And how do you clean your wounds back there without hurting anything?
Answer:
This answer is at the Web MD site too. Avoid rubbing the area with your tongue or touching it with your fingers. Continue to brush your teeth and tongue carefully.
no u can brush ur teeth in fact u need to so u can cut down on the bacteria in ur mouth less risk of infection. Just dont brush back there okay
Just go home and brush where it was pulled vigorously right away. Waiting is for sissies.
I brushed my teeth the next time I was awake, I was just very tender with it and didn't scrub.I was drinking the next day and I ate soft foods w/in 2 days. It isn't as bad as people make it sound, but you do want to be tender with that area for a few days.
different people are different -- my brother had a really bad time of it -- i had a horrible time getting them pulled out but was eating the day after.
If it's anything like when I had pieces of bone chiseled out of my jaw to remove all four of my wisdom teeth, you won't even think about brushing. I could barely open my mouth wide enough to fit a straw inside for a week.
I just brushed the front of my mouth for a while, maybe starting on the second day out. The eating part was kind of annoying... I wasn't eating normal food for over a week, I think, and I got really impatient! ;) BUT, it does give you an excuse to eat lots of ice cream and top ramen.
I wouldn't clean your wounds - leave them alone!! They'll do much better without fussing around them to open them up again. Good luck! It's really okay. Your jaws prolly won't open very far for a while (I had trouble even getting spoon in :) but other than that, it is all right.
No you should brush your teeth - BUT NOT YOUR INCISIONS. rinse with salt water, GENTELY -, and eating you can do - you just need to be mindful of chewing at the incision site - I would suggest soft foods - scrambled eggs , soup and Jell-O for a few days - mostly because it's easier to not slip up and chomp down on something hard in that tender area. Remember that foods too hat or cold may hurt too. when you have this done your dentist should give you very detailed instructions and also if over the counter meds are not enough he/she may prescribe something for the pain. Also some times dentists, depending on your individual situation, may prescribe antibiotics.
You'll be fine -
I had to have both my top ones cut out and the healing process wasn't as long or a bad as I'd though it would be.We always seem to make ourselves more scared of the dentist than we need to be don't we..?The one big thing though is DON'T SMOKE ! ! ! ! !
there is a condition called dry socket - that hurts like hell and the smoking and the sucking on cigs can cause this - go without them if you smoke because from what I have heard this is worse than an abscessed infected tooth.
Where did you get that information? After 24 hours after extraction, as long as there is no bleeding (if there still is call your DDS...asap!)you can brush your teeth. Just be careful not to brush extraction site, obviously. Your mouth and your teeth need to be clean to ensure that bacteria does not build up in the mouth. The first 24 hours after extraction do not eat hot, spicy or course foods. Do not drink hot liquids or alcohol, either, as it will loosen scabs and promote bleeding. No straws either, as it will loosen scab also. Eat soft foods...scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes. ice cream, etc. and that can be eaten when there is no obvious bleeding.4-8 hours after surgery. It depends on the individual, though.and if you are having a local anesthesia or a general one...which puts you to sleep during the surgery. Needless to say...good luck!
I brushed the first night w/o toothpaste and didn't brush the tooth next to the holes. The second day, I use a bit of toothpaste. I didn't use reg mouthwash until about 5 days later. I used the warm salt water rinse the surgeon recommended. A teaspoon to a large glass. I did this morning/night and after meals. Be gentle though. You don't want to dislodge the clot. Swish it around by moving your head and let it dribble out, no spitting.
I stuck to an all soft diet for the first 5 days. Jello, soup, mash potatoes, ice cream, oatmeal, and porridge. I built up to rice, soft tacos, and noodles. Fully back to my reg diet (meat) in about a week and a half. Keep up with the meds the doc gives and the pain isn't so bad. Good luck!
Of course not! Brush your teeth with CARE! Not over the extraction area, but everywhere else is fine. Do not rinse or spit the first 24 hrs, it causes more bleeding. After 24 hrs, you should be able to rinse with water, (no mouthwash right away, it's too abrasive).

When you get your braces off, does the retainer hurt?

Im getting my braces off june 7th and i have a trip the next day, will the retainer hurt?
Answer:
The retainer doesn't really hurt at all, it's just more uncomfortable than anything...since you aren't used to it. I had a little trouble talking with it in, you just sound different. after wearing it for awhile you'll get used to it though. I Had those clear plastic retainers, but for my top teeth the retainer didn't really do its job. My top teeth starting shifting back so what they had to do is put braces back on my top teeth for a few months to get them back where they were and then they gave me a permanent retainer which i advise you get. That way you don't even have to worry about it. Good Luck!
Only if you try to put it in after not wearing it for a while. Otherwise, it's not like having the braces tightened, which I remember very well was pretty uncomfortable. Now, you're just trying to maintain your alignment.I have two permanents and they've never bothered me.
No it doesn't hurt, not like when you had to get the braces tightened. It is more annoying than anything, it makes you talk weird and you have to take it out when eating. A little advice though, don't stop using it. It is what keeps your teeth straight after the braces come off. I didn't and my teeth slipped back to where they were before I got braces and my parents were so mad at me because I waisted all that money.
If its the permanent one it does for a few days and if its the one that can come out it doesn't hurt but it feels funny for the first couple of days until you are used to it.
No, it didn't hurt. Just wear them all the time or as long as your Ortho recommends. Don't want them shifting. =) If you miss a day, your teeth might be sore when you put them back in. But nope, didn't hurt other than that. Good luck!

When you get clear braces, do the tiny brackets have to be clear or is it only the rubber bands?

Answer:
The brackets are clear, wires are silver, bands are whatever color you want. The brackets can yellow if you drink coffee, tea or cola.
They are much easier to clean than metal, you can see what you're doing.
i think the wires are clear. BUT they change color after a week. so its not worth the money. just get reg.
There are two kinds of braces that are not as visible. One is the kind that go behind the teeth. But those can be uncomfortable, and they only work for certain people. The other kind is the kind you are talking about. Yes, the brackets are clear, the wire can even be clear, and the rubber bands are definitely clear. The regular brackets are made of metal, and are very noticeable. The clear ones may discolor a bit, but they are MUCH LESS noticeable than dark, shiny metal! The clear kind are more expensive, but I got them when I had to wear braces, and I think they were completely worth it. In photographs of me, from back then, you can barely tell I have braces (you can see them, but your eye isn't drawn to them). However, in photographs of people with regular braces, that is the first thing your eye notices!
Well that really depends. Let's say you were to get regular braces, after you get them on you have to go monthly to get them checked up and adjusted. Each and everytime you go they'll ask you which color do you want the rubber bands. There is one that is clear, but from what my g/f told me if you were to get these it would be a bit of a hassle because they'll get dirty faster. You'll have to washing your mouth constantly in order to try and keep them as clear as possible. Now with what your saying, it also depends on what clear braces you're talking about, also the check up's when you have these are different than just the regular one's. Check these links out maybe they'll help. Hope this answer helps you out!
Hi! I got my braces February 14th 2007, and I just happened to get the clear colored ceramic ones! The wire is silver, hence that it's wire. The bracket, (the square looking thing on the tooth) is clear, I chose Pearl so it doesn't dye as quickly. The rubberbands, that go around the bracket to keep the wire in place, is clear, or any color you want.
Again, I chose Pearl so it doesn't dye as quickly.I advse you to chose Pearl if you get clear braces, they dye three time slower than if you were to get actual 'clear' braces. Don't worry, they give you that option because they're ceramics!I hope this answered your question, and also clear braces do not hurt as much and are well, funner and easier to clean!Good luck!
:)
The tiny brackets will have to be clear and I think that the rubber bands have to be clear.
