I am taking penicillin for a abscessed tooth but now my whole side of my mouth is swelled up what is happening

you should see decreaed swelling and a noticeable reduction in pain in 2 days after the start of an antibiotic. chances are, the bacteria is resistant to the antibiotic your on, and you need something different. contact your doctor asap.
