Is it better to get lighter colors or darker colors for braces? Thanks in advance!

Dark colors would not show up as much as lighter or brighter colors. It depends on your age and what you are involved in I think. I never had braces, but have cleaned many. Clear allows stains to show up more because the cement gets stained if you don't clean them well. Dark colors may let the plaque show up more though because it is whitish on a dark background..Just keep them very clean, use a rotary, electric brush and water pik. Avoid dark types of drinks if possible.
You can try hot pink and black, they look really cute together. Try to avoid white cause it can be easily stained. Also, I used orange and pink.

I have braces, and I've found that if you like to eat dark foods, or drink pop or coffee, it is better to have darker colored braces because stuff doesn't show up as much on them.
whatever u like, although lighter colors will probably show stains more. im a really girly girl so for mine (im getting them in like 2 weeks, omg its exactly 2 weeks!) im getting pink and green so thats an idea or pink/purple, pink/blue, pink/orange, for 4th of july u can get red/white/blue, you could get red/blue, blue/green, blue/purple, there are lots of colors. u could just pick two of ur favorite colors and they will probably have them. or u could do just one color, or my orthodontist said that sometimes (it depends on the type of braces u get) that u can get them without the colors at all which i might do. whatever u pick, good luck

Lighter cause their closer to the teeth color.

It depends a lot on how much maintenance you are willing to give to your braces. Colors such as clears, whites, or light blues, or pinks will probably take more maintenance than your basic blue, red, and green. They tend to stain easier so you would have to either be careful with what you eat or brush frequently. Another color to be weary of is yellow, still prone to staining it also makes your teeth appear yellower or dirtier. However if maintenance is not a problem to you and you are willing to put in extra effort then lighter is better for you. If you keep your braces bands clean they will seem less visible, unlike darker colors or brighter ones that will most likely stick out more along side your teeth color, white. It all depends on your personal reference.
